Had coffee with BnB this morning. [okay, I was in KC, MO talking from my office...but it felt like I was there] They seemed to have a wonderful time with Pam and Dusty who came down to visit this last weekend. They had lunch with everyone from LHC (Kevin, Melissa, Sharon, etc) and Pam/Dusty. Got to talking about Tom T. Hall and the Monopoly card game. Had frozen yogurt with everyone and then PnD had to head home. They just had a lazy Sunday, not doing too much.
Mom and Dad continue in good spirits, ready to tackle the challenges yet ahead of them. They are out on their patio watching the birds as we talk. It's 112 in shade. Should be in the 120s before the day is done, and been that way for awhile. [why do you live there again?]
Today they have blood test at the hematologist and then ST at 4pm. Tomorrow is a full day of PT/OT/ST. His movement is very good and he can "do the dance" that the PT taught him. Could hardly do it before, but does it with ease now.
One of the things that Dad is supposed to do is keep from getting agitated. He watched the news yesterday and got worked up about stuff going on. [who wouldn't, it's a mess right now] Please help me encourage him to work on his drawing, or music, or reading in place of this. There are days when Dad struggles, really wants to read better but I know that will come as he continues to work at it. They bought a large print Readers Digest and that seems to help him. His ability to read is concerning him, even though he is improving. The vision is improving also but not as fast as he'd like.
I would love to see Dad drawing more, and really get back into his art again. He is so talented. Any word of encouragement from readers of this blog would be appreciated. He's been working at recovering for over a month now, and the long road can be discouraging. Please keep him in your prayers, and drop a line, or call as you can.
Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
