Paula and I called and chatted with Mom and Dad about 9pm tonight. They both sounded good but tired. Apparently Dad had another busy day with several sessions of physical, occupational, and speech therapies.
He's been working on reading and letter recognition, and he's still frustrated with his progress but we remind him of how well he's doing after only having his stroke just 2 weeks ago. This picture on the right shows him working on those skills.
They've also been working with him on his gait, and getting his rhythm back when he walks.
He uses bamboo walking sticks in therapy, but doesn't need them to get around at all. They use these in a couple of different ways to help him with that.
He says that they make his shoulders sore. He must still be supervised when walking, but he does it all on his own now.

Great news! Dad's been headache free for two days. Dr. Ron can't believe it! He says that shows the brain is healing itself.
He got a nice note from Forrest Couch, and old friend from the Nazarene church in Flagstaff who now lives in the Pacific NW somewhere. Forrest has been through two strokes, and his card really encouraged Dad.
For dinner tonight: bowl of soup and half a sandwich.
He said goodbye on an upbeat note and asked us to say "hi" to everyone out there.
