Dad was using walking sticks today to navigate today. It helps him keep his balance and walk on his own. His right foot swings out a bit as he walks, and he's learning how to control it. He used a weight machine with about 15 pounds of weight to exercise his midsection.
Dad's working on his cognitive skills, doing exercises to match numbers and shapes from one side of the page to the other. This frustrated him some as he wasn't able to do as well as he wanted. He still can't remember his birth date. He gets the Month and day right, but for some reason thinks he was born in 1955. Hey, shave 20 years off you age if you can, why not?
We got the name of the neuro-ophthalmologist, Dr. Jensen @ the Kingman hospital. They say that we should wait for a while after he's be home before contacting him.
The Rehab doctors think that Dad will probably be in outpatient rehab for one to three months. Hard to tell at this point. As long as he's making progress they can keep him coming back.
Dad had restless night sleeping last night. Ate well today at breakfast and lunch, but wasn't hungry at dinner. He had no headaches today, so that is really good progress.
Kevin, Melissa, and Glenda were visitors tonight, and Mom remains his companion throughout the day until he's ready for bed.
