Day 126

Dad had a bone marrow biopsy Wednesday (10/13).  He said that it was pretty painful, but doesn't have any of the recovery symptoms that they expected.  They warned him it might be painful for a while after and be hard to walk (he had them use the hip location for the biopsy) but he says he feels good.  He also had to give more blood for additional tests, and is schedule for a 24 urine collection.  Results from all this testing should be available for them at the 11/3 doctor appointment they have.  Still looking for potential causes of the kidney failure.

He's still in PT and seems to enjoy it but also complains about how much work they have him doing.  I say (and tell them) that he should be glad that he can still go because that shows signs he's still improving.  He says the "homework" is harder now and not as much fun as it used to be.  I suggested that he speak to his PT folks about it.  They were all so nice I'm sure they can find some way to make it fun.

We talked for a long while about regular stuff.  Yes there are health concerns, but I'm so happy that "dad is back" and we can enjoy more years together.  We talked about his Hot Rod, and how he's thinking about selling it. (he'd like to get $5-6K) Whatever makes him happy I'm all for.  We also talked about his brother Forest.  He's not doing very well with the Alzheimer's disease.  Dad worries about this.

He's been trying to use the computer more but has a hard time reading the screen.  He says to him it looks like the image "jumps around" and this is surely due to the image problems he has with his right eye.  It's one area of his recovery that doesn't seem to be progressing as quickly as others.  There has been improvement and we're thankful for that.

Peace to all.

My Favorite Things

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

(Maria - Sound of Music lyrics)
