Talked to Mom & Dad while they were sitting out on the patio having coffee. It was "only" 90 degrees at the time. Dad told me "we got married while you were gone"...love that sense of humor he has!

Talked about the appointment he had with Dr. Rad, the kidney doctor, on the 16th. They like him very much. He told Dad that as of 2 years ago, he had little problem with his kidneys. So the damage has occurred in the last 2 years, most likely caused by high blood pressure or medications he's been on. The doctor confirmed Dad is at Level 4 kidney disease. His diet is very important and they'll meet with a dietitian in a couple weeks. The diet is so crucial, the doctor's office will pay for the dietitian service if a patient's insurance doesn't. I encouraged them to ask lots of questions.

Dr. Rad talked a bit about the possibility of dialysis in the future. Mom and Dad were depressed at the thought, but said "whatever happens, we're in the Lord's hands." The doctor wants Dad to have some tests at the imaging center - possibly a sonogram. It's important for Dad to keep track of his blood pressure. (so that might mean keeping the TV off of FOX news) :)

Mom said they would monitor it each day.

Dad's eyes are getting better all the time. He's reading articles now and recognizing words on the television.

I encouraged them to take a pocket recorder to the doctors appointments so they could remember what was said and be able to refer to it later Also want them to ask the doctors when it's okay for Dad to travel. Would be nice to get them out to Kansas for a visit!

Kevin has been over every night. He provides great moral support and is helping around the house whenever they need anything. It's really nice to have him so close.

Jesus said to his disciples: I tell you not to worry about your life! Don’t worry about having something to eat or wear. 23 Life is more than food or clothing. 24 Look at the crows! They don’t plant or harvest, and they don’t have storehouses or barns. But God takes care of them. You are much more important than any birds. 25 Can worry make you live longer? 26 If you don’t have power over small things, why worry about everything else?
