We talked to Brenda this afternoon, about 3:00 Arizona time. She sounded more rested and slept better last night. She said Bob began the day not feeling too great (upset stomach). This could have been from the antibiotics he's on for the phlebitis on his arm. The good news is he only has 2 more days of the antibiotic, and by lunchtime he was feeling much better. Brenda said he doesn't care much for meat or sweets lately, which isn't like him, but he really liked the grilled cheese and soup they served.

The social worker stopped by to talk with Bob and Brenda about what kind of help they might need once he gets home. For instance, would he need help showering, would he be comfortable being left alone if Brenda runs an errand, etc? They learned about a medical supply store in town that rents chairs for the shower, and other things they might temporarily need.

The Dr. he met with yesterday was Dr. Ron Bonfiglio, a physiatrist. (basically, a rehab physician) Tomorrow the whole team will meet to establish goals to be met before Bob goes home. Driving is most likely months away, but he is getting stronger every day and making good progress. A referral was given for a Neuro-Opthamologist to help with the vision problems.

Brenda said Bob's kidney function was back to normal now, and he had a good day of PT. The physical therapist had him lie down on the floor, as if he had fallen, to help him know how to get up by himself. He did it on the first try!

One of the neighbors stopped by and they had a nice visit, but Bob was tired when he left. We'll be anxious to hear about the team meeting tomorrow. (2:00 pm)
