Came back from getting coffee to find dad relatively awake and alert. We talked to him and asked him to squeeze our hand to show he understood. When I first told him who I was and asked if he understood, he squeezed my hand three quick times. Strong, definite squeezes.
June his respiratory tech said that they are slowly weaning him off the breathing machine. He had just moved it down from 16 to 14. (not sure what the numbers mean). The neuro doc is in the department so we're hoping he'll stop by again and tell us more.
